Information

Borage Oil is derived from the seeds of the borage plant (scientific name: Borago officinalis). Native to the Mediterranean region, borage has been used as an herbal remedy by ancient Greeks and Romans, who believed it had soothing and tonic properties. Over time, it spread across Europe and was used in traditional medicine to alleviate inflammation and skin issues. Now, borage is primarily cultivated in Europe, northwestern China, and certain temperate regions, with its seeds being processed to extract borage oil. Borage Oil is a rich source of omega-6 Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA), a fatty acid composed of 18 carbon atoms and three double bonds. Its health benefits are attributed to GLA, a rare constituent found in only a few plants in nature, including borage, evening primrose, black currant, and hemp. The GLA content in borage oil ranges from 17% to 24%.
